Performance Band
Director: Donald C. Allen (dallen@cppmail.com) Assistant Director: Joseph Stork (jstork@cppmail.com)
A message from Mr. Allen,
Please realize that the directors and administration are working every day to make the band be a worthwhile experience for your students. In the midst of our challenges created by the Coronavirus, we have no guarantees as of yet about the way we are going to operate.
Performance Band much of the information necessary is still tentative and dependent on State and District guidelines. Our band camp this year will be much different than we are used to and done virtually This should be considered with a disclaimer that everything could change dependent on the behavior of the Covid 19 complexity of opening safely.
I have attached a “potential” schedule for camp and sign-up sheet for those that still haven’t done that before school let out. It is a google form. If you have already filled this out, there is no need to do it again.
Most practices will be done by virtual instruction from staff, and membership doing much of the work at home in between on line rehearsals. Attached to this email will be links to the music and thoughts of how we can present it to you. The staff and I will be continuously looking at ways for you to receive safe instruction, but will require you to do some personal off site learning, in order to be successful.
We are basically in a holding pattern, but are hoping to still try to get any sense of normalcy as humanly possible. We are having a virtual band camp on the following dates:
The director and staff will reserve the right to be able to change any of these dates with plenty of notice for any adjustments we (or you) may have to make, depending on State or District guidelines. The last thing we want is for anyone to get sick. If it becomes possible to meet in person, (safely), all social distance protocol will be met.
When school starts, again our schedule depends on what we are allowed to do, but expect it to again be different than it has been in past years. We will have to rehearse in smaller groups and sections. At the information meeting on August 17th we may have a clearer idea about how we will do this safely.
Section leaders, captains and drum majors will be contacted and will then reach out to their section mates very soon. Our basic way to communicate will be through Google Meet and possibly Zoom for sections.
Please take a second to join our Facebook Group.
The show music will be attached for you to start learning. In the next few communications I am attempting to have mp3 recordings to listen to, and possibly play along with. All warm ups that we know such as technic tuning will be used again. All of this music is already on our website: www.cppbands.org/performance-band.
The 2020 Corning-Painted Post Performance Band presents the music of Chuck Mangione.
Musical Selections
1. Children of Sanchez
2. Echano
3. Land of Make Believe
Look forward to more communications to keep you informed. If you have any questions, please contact dallen@cppmail.com or jstork@cppmail.com
